IyunOla Sanyaolu.

IyunOla Sanyaolu (b. 1998) is a graduate of the University of Lagos, where she had her B.A in painting from The Department of Creative Arts and was awarded the female visual artist of the year, 2018.

Currently working with oil, acrylic and charcoal, she extends the boundaries of texture beyond preconceived notions, incorporating elements of drawing. Her work centres around an enduring exploration of texture and a layered build up of form through the use of the impasto technique. Presenting picturesque scenes that blend the abstract with figurative elements, she delves into the psychological effects of her colour palette, aiming to engage the relationship between the eye and the brain.

Documenting observations in her everyday life and experiences, she eschews the realistic for the motive, echoing her belief in the therapeutic qualities of art.

She is a 2019/2020 Arts in Medicine (AIM) alumni.
